After reading Room on the Broom everyday, my son wanted another Halloween book to read. So, we have been reading The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything.
The book has repetition in it, so it makes it easier for my son to retell the story to me.
By kindergarten, children will be asked to retell the main points of a story. They absolutely don’t have to master the skill now. But, introducing them to the idea is a great way for them to have a great kindergarten year.
The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything is about a little old lady who goes on a walk to gather herbs and spices in the forest. Along the way she runs into shoes, pants, a shirt, gloves, a hat, and a giant pumpkin head. They all make different noises that are fun to repeat. They follow her home and she has a great idea of what to do with them!
My son and daughter love it! Now we are reading this book everyday. And there is a short 10-minute video on YouTube to watch. See it below:
