Room On The Broom Scavenger Hunt

Room On The Broom Scavenger Hunt

This Room on the Broom Scavenger Hunt is so fun! We had fun making the crafts and hiding them around the house to find. It is perfect for the book!

October is one of my favorite months of the year. I love dressing up with my kiddos. It brings out the little kid in me. It’s really fun to play pretend and see my kiddos’ eyes light up with joy.

We don’t have our costumes planned yet, but we have been reading Room on the Broom to start off the fun Halloween festivities!

I love that the book has some repetition in it, so that it’s easier to retell. By kindergarten, children will be asked to retell the main points of a story.

So, my friend Beth (from Days with Grey) and I have been teaming up each month to provide a book and a craft/activity that you can do with your kiddos to help prepare them for story retelling.

They absolutely don’t have to master the skill now. But, introducing them to the idea is a great way for them to have a great kindergarten year.

You can see a couple of our past Book Box Story Retells here: Tree, Dragons Love Tacos, The Watermelon Seed.

But, back to Room on the Broom. It’s about a witch that loses some of her items while flying her broom (like her bow, wand and hat). Along the way she makes room on her broom for  some new friends who end up helping her later in the story.

My son and daughter love it. We read it almost everyday. And what’s awesome is that there is a 30-minute movie version on Netflix (just search Room on the Broom).

I thought a scavenger hunt would go along with the book since she loses her bow, wand and hat. So, we made paper versions of those to hide around the back yard to find. I hope you have fun making these and doing the scavenger hunt!
