Use these Morning Routine Visual Schedule Cards to help your child stay on task in the morning. Includes 10 colorful and cheerful cards. Instant Download.

Mornings can sometimes feel like I’m managing a circus over here. Do you ever just join the insanity too? No? Just me? Kids have bad days. They’re tiny humans that need direction. When a day is going bad, what do they do?

Throw a fit or get sassy with ya.

They need help staying focused.

So, I made routine cards to help reduce the level of insanity at those witching hours. And boy do they help so much.

My son has ADHD, so these really help him stay focused on tasks. And they help my daughter too (because she’s almost 3 and gets in her La La Land and decides to twirl and giggle). I hope my third kiddo is more task-oriented. We shall find out.

But these cards! They have helped my family so much.

We set them out by clipping them on a piece of twine on our activity wall. I only set out 4-5 at a time (I don’t want to overwhelm them). My kids look at the cards (my son points to each to know his order of tasks). And, off they go to do them. They come back, unclip them and stick them in the box.

We’re at the point they just do these things without referring to them. But, they’re there just in case we need a reminder.

What the Morning Routine Visual Schedule Cards Help With

These morning routine cards help your child break down his routine. Sometimes, when you tell your child a set of tasks to complete, he can get overwhelmed and not even do one task. So, breaking it into steps breaks a big thing into small achievable things. So, instead of saying, “go get ready for school,” he can look at his tasks and know each step to do to get ready for school.

It helps him become more independent in the tasks he needs to do every morning (also freeing up your time to get your morning tasks done or just drink a hot cup of coffee).

First Time Using the Morning Routine Visual Schedule

Step One. Print the cards out.

Step Two. Laminate the cards. We love this AmazonBasics Laminator and Laminating Pouches (affiliate links – does not raise the price for you).

Step Three. Cut out the cards.

Step Four. Once the cards are printed, laminated and cut. Go over each task with your child. So, he gets familiar with each card and what it represents.

Suggested Activity: To make it a habit, make a sticker chart. Cut out the doodles on the cover page. Glue to a poster board in a column on the left side. Write Monday-Friday at the top. Make a grid. Place a sticker in the box when your child completes the task. If your child does each task for 5 days, he gets a prize.

Display the Morning Routine Visual Schedule

  • Add Velcro dots to put them on a poster board.
  • Clip them onto a piece of twine to make a garland.
  • Add magnets to put them on the fridge.

Put them in the order that best suits your family’s needs. Have a basket below the display for your child to remove each task card he completes. He will know exactly what task needs to be completed next.

We hope these cards help your family’s morning go smoothly and make mornings more enjoyable. Have a happy routine!
