We love playing while learning at our house. Hands down it is one of our favorite ways to learn! Play makes everything better. Am I right?! Just like that saying, “Bacon makes everything better!” haha.
I really do try to come up with ways to engage my kiddos while learning at home. Especially since we have been home so much lately.
Aside from our regular scheduled lessons (I sound like a newscaster), we have been diving into bible stories.
We just wrapped up doing an Easter lesson that my kiddos had fun with!
When we finished, they asked to keep going. So, to the beginning it is!
If your house is anything like my house, we color ALOT. Like we have papers and papers of doodles. We may have a doodling problem. Send help! Just kidding.
My kids can spend hours doodling and coloring.
So, I thought, “Why not make doodles for them to color that help them learn the Creation Story?” And, of course, adding activities that get them outside, get them moving and get their creative wheels a turnin’.
So, these are the Creation Story activities for kids I came up with for them to do. I hope you join in on the fun!
Please note: you can do all these activities in one day (if you’re feeling ambitious), a couple a day or one a day. Do it at a pace that works for your family.
I start by reading the entire story in one of the Bibles we read in our house:
- Jesus Calling Storybook Bible by Sarah Young
- The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones
- My First Hands-On Bible by Tyndale
And those links are amazon affiliate links. They are only there as convenience for you and don’t raise the price for you at all.
Every activity uses a page out of the Creation Story Activity Pack. I hope you enjoy the pack so much! And that it blesses your family! It was fun to create.

Day 1 Let There Be Light – Instructions
I had the kiddos color the Day 1 coloring page in the Creation Story Activity Pack. We read the bible verse that goes along with it. We closed our eyes and talked about darkness and opened our eyes to see light. Then, we started a light bulb craft.
Step One. Cut a flap off of a cardboard box and cut that flap in half.
Step Two. Layout a paper bag or plastic table cloth to cover your kiddo’s work area. Set out yellow and black paint.
Step Three. Have your kiddo paint one cardboard square yellow and the other one black. Let them dry.
Step Four. Cut a light bulb shape out of the yellow square and draw swirls in the middle with a permanent marker.
Step Five. Have your kiddo wrap the light bulb with plastic wrap and tape it in the back.
Step Six. Cut a strip of foil and have your kiddo wrap the bottom of the light bulb. Tape it in the back.
Step Seven. Cut a piece of string. Tape one end to the back of the light bulb and the other end to the back of the black square. Then, have your child hold the light bulb behind the black square. Have them say, “And God said, ‘Let there be light.'” And drop the light bulb from behind the black square.
And why the flashlights, Ludavia? Stay up a little later and play flashlight tag outside in the dark. It’s pretty fun! You can even talk about how God uses us to shine His love to the world.

Then, hold a lid over the pot for a little bit. Take the lid off and show your kiddos the water droplets (this is condensation and how clouds form). This is science! Whoo hoo! You can watch a fun video on YouTube about The Water Cycle to go deeper with the science lesson.
Step Three. Make a cloud. For this, cut out a cloud shapes from white paper, have your kiddos glue cotton balls all over it. If you’d like to practice counting with them, have them count how many cotton balls they used to make the cloud.
