We made this easy baby chick puppet a couple days ago and my kiddos love it! It was so fun seeing them running around cheeping like baby chicks.
Oh my goodness! Easter is in 2 days! What?! Am I the only one who doesn’t have a basket for her kids?
I did buy plastic eggs. But, I have no candy. Do you think I can get away with saying the Easter Bunny ate it all? Just kidding (kind of).
With 2 kiddos and one baby boy (literally ready to be delivered any day now), I get real last minute with holiday stuff. But, I try to make it extra special with doing crafts with my kids.
To get them excited about a holiday coming up, I usually read a few books to them and we do some crafts together.
A couple days ago, we made baby chick puppets. And it was so fun to see my kiddos run around with them, wiggling them to make their eyes move and cheeping for sound affects. To me, that’s a win! So, I am sharing this last minute Easter craft idea with you today.
It’s so simple and so fun!
Baby Chick Puppet – Materials
- cardboard
- small plate
- pen
- scissors
- foam paint brush
- yellow paint
- yellow feathers
- orange pipe cleaner
- orange paper
- wiggly eyes
- glue
- jumbo craft stick
Baby Chick Puppet – Instructions
Step One. Trace a small bowl onto a piece of cardboard to make a circle.
Step Two. Have your kiddo paint the circle yellow with the foam brush. Let it dry. Cut the circle out.
Step Three. Have your kiddos glue yellow feathers onto the yellow circle.
Step Four. Glue on the wiggly eyes and an orange, upside-down triangle for a beak.
Step Five. Cut an inch or two off an orange pipe cleaner. Cut that in half.
Step Six. Fold the small pieces of pipe cleaner to look like chick feet. Glue them on the bottom.
Step Seven. Glue a jumbo craft stick to the back of the chick.
You have a baby chick puppet your kiddos can play with on Easter Day or any day after that! Baby chicks are just so cute and are fun all of Spring.
I hope you have so much fun creating these with your kiddos!
