Valentine’s Day Games for Toddlers

We have been playing Valentine’s Day Games for Toddlers all day. Including Tic Tac Toe and 5 other games! It’s so simple to make!

We have been seeing a lot of hearts lately. We have seen them at Target, the grocery store, up on store windows; they’re everywhere.

So, I put up a few Valentine’s Day decorations on our mantel to get a little festive. My kiddos love the decorations! They were so sad about Christmas being over and all the decorations getting put away. So, this was a nice way to get over those blues.

I’ve been trying to figure out a few games to play to get my kiddos excited about Valentine’s Day. So, I made some quick little hearts that can be used for a few games!

Whoo hoo! I love when I can use a 10-minute project multiple times!

I hope you have as much fun as we did!

Step One. Trace the small heart cookie cutter on the red and pink paper 6 times using a pencil. Trim the edges of the red and pink paper to fit in the laminator sheets.

note: if you don’t have a laminator machine, use thick cardstock.

Step Two. Go over the pencil tracings with black permanent marker. Write X in the middle of all the pink hearts and O in the middle of all the red hearts.

Valentine’s Day Games for Toddlers – How to Play

We played a few games with these XOXO Heart Cards.

Game One. Tic Tac Toe

Of course the first game was Tic Tac Toe. One player is the O’s and one player is the X’s. The first to get three in a row wins!

Game Two. Hug or a Kiss?

The second game we played was as a family. We call it: Hug or a Kiss? We sat on the floor in a circle and put all the cards in a bucket. We took turns pulling one card out. If you pull an X, you give a hug to the person on your right. If you pull an O, you give a kiss on the cheek to the person on your right.

My kiddos got a kick out of this game. They were giggling so hard. My son suggested we switch the direction and go left. He wanted to kiss mommy on the cheek. Too cute!

I love that my kiddos felt so loved and happy during this game.

Game Three. Find the Hearts

I hid all 12 hearts around a room and had the kiddos go on a scavenger hunt.

Valentine’s Day Games for Toddlers – Activity Ideas

Activity One. Pattern Play

Parent, write a pattern using X’s and O’s on a piece of paper. Have your child copy the pattern. Repeat as many times as your child wants.

Activity Two. Sort and Count

Have your child sort the pink and red cards into groups and count the number of cards in each group.

Activity Three. Feelings

Ask your child what feelings they feel when they receive a hug and/or a kiss on the cheek. Review different feelings with your child.

I hope you have so much fun with these Valentine’s Day Game Cards. We sure did!
